Quentin Tarantino has reportedly pitched an idea for a new Star Trek movie to Paramount. One of the most prestigious directors working today apparently wants to take stab at one of the most beloved franchises.

The Hateful Eight director has shared details with producer J.J. Abrams. The plan is to assemble a writer’s room who will work with Tarantino’s ideas before getting to work on the project. Tarantino might even direct the film!

Throughout his career, Tarantino has preferred to create original content over helming well-established franchises. Yet, the Academy Award winning director has expressed his love for Star Trek in the past. In fact, in an interview with the Nerdist podcast, the director discussed what type of Star Trek film he would like to create, a full-length version of the Star Trek The Next Generation episode “Yesterday’s Enterprise.”

“I actually think that is not only one of the best space stories, but how it dealt with the mythology. That could bare a two-hour treatment.”

“Yesterday’s Enterprise,” features a temporal rift that has detrimentally changes the timeline. The Enterprise is thrust into an alternative universe where the Federation has been at war with the Klingons for decades and on verge of collapse.

Could you imagine an Mirror Universe episode directed by Quentin Tarantino? Sound pretty awesome to me!
