If you’re a comic book movie fan than chances are you are over the moon excited about “Avengers Infinity War.” The third Avengers film (fourth if you count “Captain America Civil War”) is expected to be the biggest and baddest of them all. It kind of has to be. The Avengers’ confrontation with Thanos has been teased since the end credits of the first “Avengers” back in 2012.
The only concern is how can the Russo Brothers get every superhero slated to be in the film (and from the trailer there are a ton) enough screen time? Will every hero get their due, or will some be left in the foreground?
It turns out, there might be more superheroes featured in “Infinity War” than you think. Anthony Mackie, teased that the film will feature a scene with 40 superheroes.
Speaking at Ace Comic Con, Anthony Mackie, aka the Falcon, spilled the beans on a scene which could very well be the most epic scene in MCU history.
“There was one day we were on set and were doing this scene that’s in the trailer and we’re all running to battle, you know, all of us are on set and it’s, like, 40 superheroes,” said Mackie.
I have run the numbers (and by run the numbers I mean counted in my head and rewatched the “Infinity War” trailer) and I can’t even name 40 characters…unless you count all the TV characters like Daredevil and The Punisher.
It sounds as if Mackie was exaggerating a bit with the number 40. But let’s recount together just to make sure…Captain American, Ironman, Hulk, Spider-Man…actually maybe another time.
40 isn’t the only number being thrown around for “Infinity War.” During a recent “Captain America: Civil War” panel in Los Angeles, screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeeley admitted that they counted every character they were permitted to use in the MCU and will include 75 characters.
That would be impressive if the Russo Brothers were able to incorporate 75 total characters. It could also be a bit of a mess. They did it successfully in “Civil War.” Let’s see if they can do it again.
